How can a Local Area Network help my small business?
A local network can make the business of running a business easier, faster, and much more efficient. By connecting everyone’s PC, users can share files, access the Internet, send and receive email, and minimize the risks associated with viruses and malicious hacking. Not to mention providing the ability for all users to use any printer in the office. How often do you hear your employees say “I wish I had access to a better printer”? Now everyone can take advantage of the office resources without inconveniencing your co-worker, who happened to have the only color printer!
Why is Asandia better than the competition?
Many businesses can respond to a client’s requirements. But, Asandia goes one step farther. We analyze your business processes, talk to your employees, and implement a solution that’s suited to you. We frequently recommend and implement solutions that might otherwise have been unknown. For example, you may recognize the need for email. But, did you know that we can configure your email to virtually eliminate typographical address errors. Other vendors install the products just like we do - but Asandia has the experience and the patience to walk you through every product feature that will dramatically improve your office productivity, and make your job even more pleasurable. That’s the Asandia difference!
What can a network installation provide for my small business?
Quite often, businesses purchase a number of individual computers for their office but fail to recognize the value of connecting them to a server through a network. Asandia can demonstrate the immediate benefit of an integrated network solution, including such aspects as email, calendar sharing, file sharing, and Internet access.
There are a number of reasons to consider a network solution for your growing office environment.
- Resource Sharing:
A growing business is often faced with an unmanageable number of disconnected resources. This might include individual computers each with a dedicated printer, in an office with a single FAX machine. Employees frequently purchase their own supplies (ink, paper, toner, rollers), making it difficult for the business owner to manage the growing cost of consumables. This problem is further complicated by the frequent need for maintenance of these devices.
Establishing a network environment is an efficient solution to this problem. A single, high speed, reliable printer can be added to an office network, providing instant access to shared resources. Consumables and maintenance become a single, managed expense, which is easily controlled and typically less expensive than similar service for many the individual printers that were formerly installed. The network can be gradually expanded to include network FAX capability, as well as email and Internet access.. Then, as the business grows, collaborative products such as contact and calendar sharing, can be added to encourage further office productivity.
- Standard software:
Network installation encourages centralized licensing of commonly used products, and often reduces the cost of purchasing individual products and licenses. License servers can manage the efficient use of common software while centralizing support and maintenance tasks.
- Server installation:
The logical expansion of a network includes the installation of a file server. File servers act as a high-speed, shared computer, with ample storage space, and providing a secure environment. Individual users typically have access to a dedicated area for private files and a common location for files shared with other office members. This implementation eliminates the need for sharing files by using the less efficient method of exchanging floppy disks. And, by providing a common file space, data can be archived to address issues of disaster recovery.
File servers can also act as a network firewall, providing a secure approach to Internet connectivity and allowing selective filtering and reporting. This process encourages employees’ adherence to established Internet access policies by providing selective reporting tools to monitor activity.
